Felix Martin- Gatherpiece

Guitar virtuoso Felix Martin is releasing a new single today. It is titled “Gatherpiece” and is very interesting. The song is taken from his upcoming album “The Gathering” releasing February 9th. His technique is insane, admirable and with everything going on still can write some memorable pieces. It’s a rhythmically based song with a cool theme. It’s medieval that is very unique and cool which is kinda reflected in the melodies. The song blends a couple different genres seamlessly. Martin never ceases to amaze and this new single is just another testament to how great he really is. Check out this diverse song below!

“I remember I was looking for sources of inspiration, so I started analyzing the
artwork of Magic The Gathering, which I’m a huge fan of. The melody and song
came to me after spending a day just looking at the card’s artwork. The main
theme / melody which ended up becoming the song was very inspired by medieval
music. The rest of the song is pretty much based on that initial melody. I also love
how my current FM Guitars are setup to play chord melodies, where it almost
sounds like a hybrid between a guitar and a piano” Says Felix.

Drummer Nic Kubes adds: “When Felix brought me brought me the song I was
instantly hooked, mainly because I’m a sucker for combining genres. So when
these Baroque-ish melodies are flowing from a guitar player like Felix with this
dramatic metal sound, there are a lot of exciting possibilities for counterpoint, and
to take advantage of all those dynamic moments Felix throws at you. It’s a lot of
fun.”

Bassist Joan Torres adds: “I really enjoy the sonic aesthetic of this track. I think it
really takes you to a small town with buildings made of stone, but then it adds
some anachronisms that hint at a more modern world. I’m also a big fan of the way
the parts came together, particularly the play between the bass and guitar parts
because in certain spots it’s almost like we’re Celtic bards or cosmic troubadours,
playing string instruments of those medieval times.”
