Forever In Transit- A Coming To Terms

Forever In Transit is the musical output of Buffalo multi instrumentalist Dan Sciolino. His debut “States Of Disconnection” from 2018 was an awesome start. Then the next year he put out a more ambient release “Re-Connection” . We all know what happened the following year and put everyone in a state of disarray. He tirelessly worked on composing his next release while trying to find a live band. Dan focuses on drums but also has been playing keyboard for years now. He’s done some keyboard features and does most of the work on his music. This upcoming album “A Coming To Terms” has a feature from Diego Tejeda (ex Haken who also mixed the album). He had a laundry list of Buffalo musicians who helped bring his vision to light. He recently found a lineup to play out and will be manning the drum kit (by far one of the most underrated drummers here). I truly couldn’t be any happier for the guy.

“A Coming To Terms” showcases a heavier output from Sciolino with that expected keyboard wizardry he’s acquired the last handful of years. It’s up front and a little shreddy like Dream Theater but doesn’t dominate the song. It is however very moody and atmospheric, not like “Re:Connection” though. Dan is on drums, keys and sound design. Jeremy Schroeder is on guitar, Chris Lamendola on vocals and Daniel Ross on bass.

This upcoming album showcases his diversity with shreddy guitar, beautiful vocals (some screams, some melodic and calmer), interesting rhythms and some great mellow sections. It flows very well and always held my attention. Some prog albums can totally drift off sometimes but this kept me captivated the whole time. He can write many different styles, especially some cool melodies and harmonies making his music even more captivating. It’s his biggest release and is amazing the attention this album is getting online.

“A Coming To Terms” will make any progressive nerd (including me) happy as he has a little bit of everything for everybody. The whole band is firing on all cylinders and was worth the 5 year wait since 2019. This proves art can’t be forced and can take some time. The album is releasing September 13th get on the hype train while there is room.
