REVIEW: Skeletal Remains – Fragments Of The Ageless (2024, Century Media Records)

Album art by Dan Seagrave

Following up their 2020 release, ‘The Entombment Of Chaos’, LA-based Skeletal Remains dropped their latest record on March 8. ‘Fragments Of The Ageless’ is their latest album. With eye-catching art from Dan Seagrave and massive chugging riffs throughout, this album is sure to stay in many people’s rotation for a long time to come.

These riffs are too fucking catchy. I remember listening to their last album a lot, maybe more than most. But with this latest batch of songs, these boys really stepped it up. For some reason, their guitar leads have always given me a psychedelic vibe. That hasn’t changed on this album, with nearly every song providing some incredible licks courtesy of guitarists Chris Monroe (also on vocals) and Mike De La O.

Backing up those massive guitars is the rhythm section of Pierce Williams on drums, and bassist Brian Rush, who had his recording debut with the band on this album. These two hold down the fort for the 45-minute album run, keeping the intensity levels up for the entirety of it.

I can’t think of a reason not to listen to this album. If you like gory death metal with riffs that make you bang your head like it’s 1994, you’ll love this album.
