Album Review

Creeping Death-Boundless Domain

One of death metal’s rising stars Creeping Death is releasing another album “Boundless Domain” this Friday June 16th. 2019’s “Wretched Illusions” was my introduction to the band and one of my favorites, then 2021 arrived. “Edge Of Existence” dropped that year and that EP was as good as the full length honestly. Now, we have another crushing slab off death metal from Creeping Death to sink our rotten teeth into.

What is “Boundless Domain”? It is more of the same, but better. I enjoyed the guitar riffs even more this time around and think the production is also good as well. CD is one of the bands in the modern death metal movement that does that old school style better than most these days.

Creeping Death is on a quick and furious ascent from the underground. The Texas death metal crew repeatedly delivers a relentless bludgeoning summoned from the furthest reaches of the genre’s past, present, and future. A triumphant celebration of the style itself, the Lone Star State fivesome whips up gruesome riffage and Southern grooves with an improbable cathartic glee. Texas is a hot spot for death metal and Creeping Death carries that flag very high.

Creeping Death does death metal right keeping it sludgy, groovy, grimy and quick. They are in a select group where each release is somehow as good as the previous without any regression. “Boundless Domain”” makes you want to start a mosh pit in the middle of your living room. The drums are really good, and the vocals are stellar too.

“Boundless Domain” boasts future death metal classics like the super heavy, fast, and groovy “Intestinal Wrap,” which features George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher of Cannibal Corpse. “Vitrified Earth” showcases Creeping Death’s increasing skills at songwriting, most evident with the cadence and phrasing of Alavi’s vocals while never neglecting the sick riffs. Toward the album’s end, there’s even a bit of a spaced-out atmosphere, with guitar effects, harmonies, and heady time signatures.

This upcoming album is definitely worth the hype and is a 2023 death metal gem. CD is a band that pushes their talents to the limit each release and this is definitely their finest hour so far. Don’t get left behind in the dust when this album drops Friday and check out this monstrous effort. Creeping Death is here to stay and will bulldoze anything in its path.
