Closing out 2024 is Carrion Vael, one of the biggest gems you may not know of. My biggest complaint with melodic adjacent death metal is….its not heavy enough. They’re too technical and melodic while losing focus of the heavy, or they’re too brutal with little melody. But man, is CV going against the grain. They have solid groove, some cool technical parts and soaring brutal vocals. It’s a little prog and tech but not too crazy to lure people away.
The guys dropped my favorite release of theirs so far this year “Cannibals Anonymous”. 2022’s effort “Abhorrent Obsessions” was really good but “Cannibals Anonymous” is on another level. Check out their music every day here with us and follow this grossly underrated band.
